What we collect, why, and how you're in control of it.
RevBook ("we", "us", or "our") is a booking platform connecting customers with independent mechanics and mobile auto shops in Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect through revbook.ca, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
When you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically logs your IP address and basic browser/device information (User-Agent) as a standard part of serving web requests — not something RevBook itself captures into its own database or actively uses. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools of any kind. We do not track which pages you view or which links you click.
Depending on how you use RevBook, we collect:
We do not collect payment information. RevBook never processes payment — that happens directly between customer and mechanic, outside the platform.
We use the information above to facilitate and confirm bookings between customers and mechanics, send booking-related communications (confirmations, reminders, status updates), verify mechanic credentials, and provide customer support or resolve disputes.
When you submit a booking, relevant details (name, contact info, vehicle info, address) are shared with the specific mechanic you've booked — this is necessary to facilitate your appointment. We also rely on the following service providers to operate the platform, each of which only receives what's needed to perform its function on our behalf:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
We use limited browser storage to support core site functionality — carrying your selections between pages during a booking (session-only, cleared when you close the tab), remembering whether you've seen the onboarding walkthrough, and keeping you signed in if you have an account. We do not use cookies or similar technologies for analytics, advertising, or tracking your activity across other websites, and we do not use third-party cookies.
You can turn off non-essential email and SMS notifications at any time from your account settings, or reply "STOP" to any text message to stop future texts. Once a mechanic responds to a booking request, automated reminders for that booking stop automatically.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing booking@revbook.ca. We will respond to reasonable requests in a timely manner, consistent with our need to retain certain records (such as booking history and message logs) for dispute resolution and audit purposes.
We retain information until the purpose it was collected for has been achieved. In practice, this means booking records, messages, and the audit trail of status changes on a booking are kept indefinitely rather than on a fixed schedule — this is intentional, so that a genuine dispute between a customer and mechanic can always be resolved with a complete record, not one that expired after an arbitrary window.
RevBook uses HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted to and from the site. User data is stored with a database provider (Supabase) that enforces row-level access controls, meaning data is only reachable through narrowly-scoped, purpose-built rules rather than broad open access. Sensitive documents, such as mechanic verification credentials, are stored in a private location that is never publicly accessible and can only be reviewed manually. Account passwords are never stored in plain text. Credentials for third-party services we rely on are kept in secure server-side configuration and are never exposed in the website's code. Our API endpoints are rate-limited and validate that requests relate to real bookings, preventing the service from being used to send unsolicited messages. RevBook does not process or store payment information, which removes that category of risk from the platform entirely. As a small, founder-operated business, data access is currently limited to the founder directly.
RevBook is not directed at children and requires users to be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in their province, to create an account or submit a booking. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in Canada or elsewhere.
RevBook's Privacy Officer can be contacted at booking@revbook.ca for any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this policy.
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of RevBook following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
